Men's Soccer Suffers Setback Against Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. - The Keene State men's soccer program fell in non-conference action to Tufts, 5-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Bello Field.

Tale of the Tape 

  • Keene State were outshot by Tufts, 33-11, as the Jumbos also held a 7-0 margin in corner kicks over the Owls. 
  • The Owls' goalkeeper Jason Smith picked up a season-high 10 saves, while the Jumbos' goaltender Scott Greenwood stopped three. 
  • Conor Leahy's goal was his fourth of the season, as William Salta tallied his second assist in 2016. 

Game Highlights 

  • Tufts jumped out to an early lead off of goals from Kevin Halliday in the 24th minute and Gavin Tasker in the 31st minute. 
  • Leahy scored the lone goal for the Owls off a header in the 40th minute, served off a free kick from Salta, which led Keene State into halftime down by only one.
  • The best opportunity in the second half for the Owls came in the 51st minute, as Samuel Binogono put a shot on net, but the ball was saved by Greenwood. 
  • The Jumbos used the remaining minutes of the half to score three additional goals from three different players.
