AUBURNDALE, Fla.--Nebraska-Wesleyan University scored seven times in the fifth inning in a 12-9 win over Keene State College on Sunday morning.

How It Happened

  • The bats came alive for both teams; Keene State had 16 hits, while the Prarie Dogs had 15.
  • KSC led 2-0 in the first as an error allowed Billy Hartmann and Joey Libby to score. The Prarie Dogs responded with a four run second inning, highlighted by a solo home run by Joe Babic.  Aaron Oschner singled in another run in the fourth, and an attempted double-steal allowed James McKain to score.
  • Keene State grabbed two runs back in the fifth when Hartmann and Kolby Reggione singled, and Devin Springfield hit his second triple in as many games to plate them both.  
  • NWU went up 12-4 in the fifth, sending 12 batters to the plate.  The Prarie Dogs had five hits in the inning, including a two run homer by Brett Mattson.
  • Connor Longley hit his first career home run in the top of the sixth.  KSC added three more in the top of the seventh on RBI singles by Zach Rollins, Joey Libby, and Hartmann.  Christian Bourgea had an RBI single in the ninth.
  • Kevin Guild took the loss, striking out four in four innings of work.  Libby, Hartmann, and Bourgea each had three hits and an RBI.
