Tale of the Tape

  • KSC starter Tim Coppinger went six innings, striking out three.  Nate Pedersen and Eddie Dionne combined for 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, but the Owls could take advantage of six Framingham State errors.
  • Rams' starter Al Wallach went seven innings, allowing one earned run and striking out two.  Four FSU relievers limited KSC to two hits and three unearned runs.

How It Happened

  • The Rams opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning, as Jake Wardwell reached on an infield single, stole second, and scored on Kyle Pileski's single up the middle.
  • FSU added a second run in the fourth inning when Cam Borrelli singled to left and eventually scored on a fielder's choice.  The Rams could have tacked on another run in the fifth but Dan Sarah threw out Pileski trying to steal third to end the inning.
  • KSC tied the game in the top of the sixth; Libby reached on an infield single to short, and moved all the way to third on a pair of failed pick off attempts.  Hartmann singled to left to plate Libby, then came around on Christian Bourgea's double to center.
  • The Rams could have ended the game in regulation, as Aaron Rios moved into scoring position in the bottom of the ninth, but Dionne struck out Aaron Williams to send the game to extras.
  • Keene State scored three times in the top of the 10th.  Sarah reached on an error with one out, and moved to second when Libby walked.  Hartmann singled to center to bring in pinch runner Zach Rollins, and a FSU balk and an error brought in two more runs.
  • FSU took advantage of shakiness from the KSC bullpen in the bottom half. Pileski and Manny Powers both walked off of Nick Nowak.  Steven Zadravec relieved and walked pinch hitter Cole Josselyn to load the bases with none out.
  • Keith Simpson came on in relief of Zadrevac, but an error allowed RJ Gray to reach and Pileski to score.  Anthony Venuti singled to center field to tie the game, and stole second.  Aaron Rios then plated Venuti with a walk-off single to center that won the game.
