  • The Pride host Clark to begin a NEWMAC series on Friday afternoon at 3:30 pm.

Tale of the Tape

  • Every KSC batter reached base as the Owls recovered from an early hole.  Joe Libby had three hits and scored three times, and Devin Springfield, Trevor Chapin, Vinny Parilla, Dan Sarah, and Mac Struthers each had two hits.
  • Jeff Lunn picked up his first collegiate win by throwing 3.1 innings of two hit relief.  The KSC bullpen shutdown Springfield over the final seven innings, allowing a mere three hits
  • Colin King, JP Peters, and Brandon Drabinski all had two hits for the Pride.  Reliever Corey Wilcox took the loss, surrenduring two runs in 1/3 of an inning.

How It Happened

  • Springfield broke through in the first on consecutive doubles by Wilcox and Peters.  Springfield added seven runs in the second, as two walks and an error brought in a pair of runs, and King made it 4-0 with a double through the left side.  King came home on a wild pitch.  KSC brought in reliever Mike Wasserman in place of starter Noah Rizio, but Peters and Drabinski had RBI doubles to make it 8-0.
  • Keene State began to peck away at the lead, scoring four times in the third.  Libby reached on an infield hit to shortstop, and Billy Hartmann was hit by a pitch.  Springfield clubbed a double to deep right to bring Libby around, and Chapin singled through the left side to make it 8-2.
  • Parilla doubled to left field to bring in Chapin and Springfield.  Libby tripled and scored on another Springfield error in the bottom of the fourth that made it 8-5.
  • The Owls made it 8-6 in the fifth as Springfield singled, and as he stole second, catcher Pete Marsicano threw the ball into the outfield, and the throw back in went into the KSC bullpen to award Springfield home.  Struthers singled up the middle to bring in Parilla that cut it to 8-7.
  • Keene State added five runs in the eighth, as Struthers singled and scored on an error, and Chapin had a sacrifice fly.  Longley drove in another run with a single through the right side, and Sarah brought in two with a bloop single to shallow right.
  • Lunn, meanwhile, repeatedly shut down the Springfield bats, allowing just two runners into scoring position.   Eddie Dionne came on for the ninth and struck out Matt Fraioli to end the game.
