Up Next

  • Plymouth State will receive a visit from UMass Boston on Saturday, also at noon.

How It Happened

  • The game was a true pitchers duel - both teams finished with four hits, and combined for 12 strikeouts.
  • The Owls took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third; Joe Libby reached on a fielder's choice, stole second, and moved to third on a wild pitch.  Christian Bourgea then beat out an infeild single to bring Libby around.
  • The Panthers tied it in the bottom half of the inning when Josh Goulet walked and scored on a sacrifice fly from Jake Broom.
  • PSU added to their lead in the fourth inning, as Dave Hall singled and Jarek Krajewski walked to set the table for Garnett, who hit a three run homer for a 4-1 lead.  KSC halved the deficit as Libby walked, moved to third on an infield single by Billy Hartmann, and scored on Bourgea's RBi groundout.
  • Mac Struthers kept the lead at 4-1 by throwing home on a fielder's choice to get Hall in the sixth.  KSC threatened in the eighth inning when Hartmann led off with a walk, but PSU reliever Matti Doxter got Bourgea to fly out and induced an inning ending double play from Trevor Chapin.
  • The Owls got another run back with a two out, solo home from Connor Longley in the top of the ninth, but Doxter struck out Kolby Reggione to end the game.
  • Michael Crimi took the loss (2-3).  Keith Simpson pitched three innings of one-hit relief.
