Men's Soccer Shuts Out Daniel Webster, 4-0

NASHUA, N.H.--Junior Promise Kpee netted twice as the Keene State College men's soccer team topped Daniel Webster College, 4-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

Tale of the Tape 

  • This was the first meeting between the two schools.
  • Keene State, which only scored 30 goals a season ago, already has nine in two games, and has not allowed a goal in 180 minutes of action this season.
  • Junior Jason Smith made seven saves for his second consecutive shutout.
  • In addition to Kpee's brace, Riley Steele scored his first of the season, and the Owls were also beneficiaries of an own goal; Keene State has had six different players find the net this season.

First Half Highlights

  • Keene State outshot the Eagles 8-4 in the first half, and got the only goal they would need when the Eagles diverted the ball into their own net in the 30th minute.
  • Jason Smith made a save on Meshach Dunn in the 42nd minute to keep Keene State on top.
  • The Owls looked for more, as Jacob Chiza and Donovan Harris had shots blocked, and William Salta shot wide as the half wound down.



Second Half Highlights 

  • The Owls continued to pour on the pressure, as Kpee hit the post in the 53rd minute.  Three minutes later, the lead was doubled, as Riley Steele chipped DWC goalie Cooper Hall from close range.  
  • Kpee wrapped up the match with a pair of goals in the final seven minutes, the first off a pass from Salta, and the second from Aidan Dean.
