Tolla's Goal Gives Women's Soccer 1-0 Win Over Lasell

NEWTON, Mass.--Senior Brittany Tolla scored her first goal of the season with 29 minutes remaining to lift the Keene State College women's soccer team a 1-0 win over Lasell College on Wednesday afternoon.

Tale of the Tape

  • The win ended a two game losing streak to the Lasers, and was the first shutout of the season for KSC.
  • Senior Danielle Warhall made five saves to preserve the win, registering her eighth career shutout.
  • The Owls outshot the Lasers 19-11, and held a 9-5 edge in shots on goal.

First Half Highlights 

 

  • The Lasers had a couple of chances in the early going, as Casey Meissner sent a header wide in the seventh minute, and Warhall made another stop on a headed effort by Megan Cullen.
  • Keene State peppered the Lasers' goal as the half wore on, as Taylor Farland and Quinn Dorogi shot wide.
  • Warhall made sure the game was still scoreless at halftime, saving Carly Zdanek's shot with three minutes to go.

 

Second Half Highlights 

  • Tolla put Keene State in front 15 minutes into the second half, beating her defender in the box for an unassisted tally.  It was the seventh game winning goal of her career.
  • The Owls had chances to add to the lead, as Kali Santino had her shot saved by Sarah LaClair in the 69th minute, while LaClair kept Chloe Loos off the board in the 78th minute.
  • Warhall made sure of the win by stopping a shot from Meissner with three minutes remaining, and the Owls held on despite a pair of corners for the Lasers in the final minutes.
