How It Happened

UMass Boston came out of the gate on the attack, as the Beacons fired their first two shots of the contest on target.  The Owls were able to strike soon after, as Stephanie Spitz scored her first goal of the season with a chip shot from the corner of the box over the charging Beacons keeper. Jordyn Abasciano picked up the assist on the goal in the 15th minute. Ashley Bates nearly made it 2-0 KSC in the 41st minute, as the sophomore broke away from the Boston back line, but her breakaway shot ricocheted off the crossbar. Keene State applied the pressure as they tried to expand on their early lead and outshot UMass Boston 6-3 in the opening period.

The Beacons put the pressure on to begin the second half, as they outshot the Owls 12-3 in the period. UMass Boston would eventually tie the game after peppering the Keene State keeper. Jaclyn O'Grady crossed the ball to the far post and found Cal Pitts who headed the ball in, with 20 minutes remaining in regulation. With all of the momentum, the Beacons took the lead six minutes late as Shannon Rosemond scored, with the assists going to O'Grady and Allie Crawford. Boston continued to apply pressure and secure the win.
