How it Happened
Keene State goalkeeper Abbie Terrinca kept her team in the game through the early goings as Castleton University moved through the offensive attack and took three shots in the first 25 minutes of the contest, all taken care of by Terrinca. Keene State would thank their goalkeeper by getting on the board first in the first half. In the 28th minute, Keene's Ashley Bates would dribble the ball down the sideline and take seize of some open field in front of her. Bates would dribble the ball forward and take a shot past a diving Castleton keeper Loren Henderson that then was initially blocked by defender Stephanie Burkhammer of Castleton but found its way to the back of the net to give the Owls the 1-0 lead on the own goal by the Spartans. KSC held the one goal lead for all of three minutes before the Spartans responded.

After getting on the board first, Keene State would control the pace of the game for the next three minutes before Castleton would tally on the scoreboard for the first time in the game. Castleton's Brytney Moore took a ball that was floated into space and took one big dribble before rifling a shot past the diving Owls goalkeeper Abbie Terrinca and found the back of the net, knotting the game at one goal apiece. Both goalies stood tall for the remainder for the half as the Owls and Spartans went into the half tied at one.

Again, in the second half, both Abbie Terrinca and Loren Henderson had to come up with some big saves to keep their team in the game. KSC would end up breaking that tie with just five minutes to go on the clock as freshman Maya Baker led a through ball to senior Ashley Bates who went in one on one with Henderson and put the ball past the dive of Loren Henderson and into the back of the cage to give the Owls the one goal advantage.

Keene State would close out the final five minutes of the game, eliminating Castleton from getting any opportunity towards the KSC goal. Keene State picks up their second win of the season and first win over the Spartans since they joined the Little East Conference back in 2018. Keene State moves to 4-3-1 all time against CU.
