How It Happened
The Colonials, undefeated and allowing just six goals in eight games this season, needed just five minutes minutes to get on the board through Kyla Norton's unassisted tally. Cross then netted twice before the break, in the 16th and 30th minutes, to break the game open.
Kayleigh Marshall tested WCSU goalie Karly Martin in the 24th minute, and again almost immediately following the visitors' third goal, but the goalie made the stop both times to keep WestConn in front.
Western Conn. then scored twice in the first five minutes of the second half to salt the game away; Croze completed her hat-trick just three minutes after the restart, and Suzana Imetovski completed the scoring in the 49th minute.
Kayleigh Marshall continued to threaten Martin's net, but the goalie made back-to-back saves in the 71st minute that preserved the shutout. Martin played the first 60 minutes and made three saves; Kristen Roessler had two stops in the final 30 minutes. Terrinca made six stops for the Owls in 84 minutes of action.
Rebecca Koziara came on in relief for the final six minutes and did not have to make a stop.
