KEENE, N.H. – In the Owls' first scored meet of their 2024-2025 season, the Keene State College men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted the Purple Knights from Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon at the Spaulding Pool/Recreation Center. KSC picked up six event wins on the contest but the men's team was defeated, 212-76 and the women's team fell, 174-126.
On the women's side,
London Armitage won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.92, to go with her second place 200 medley relay finish alongside
Amanda Davies,
Adessa Noyes, and
Tallulah Going, finishing in 2:01.83. Davies tacked on three more second place finishes, including in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.86), 200 breaststroke (2:45.97), and 200 IM (2:30.49). Going also finished second in an individual event, which came in the in the 50 free (26.56).
Rory Lee finished second in the 1000 free with a time of 11:47.80, and alongside Going,
Kyleigh Dyer, and
Olivia Boulris finished second in the 200 free relay (1:48.92).
Freshman
Emily Stokel finished second in 200 backstroke, while the final first place finish on the day on the women's side on the swimming events came from
Rebecca Radonovich, with a time of 2:33.45 in the 200 butterfly.
In the diving events for the women's side, freshman Maddie Keyes won the one-meter board with a score of 188.85, while
Megan Strzegowski finished second with 183.76 points. Strzegowski wound up winning the three-meter diving with a score of 193.72, while
Ayla Pullen came in second with 166.27 points.
For the KSC men,
Cooper Niles won both the one-meter and three-meter diving with scores of 142.2 and 159.75, respectively, beating out Sebi Revesz with scores of 124.51 and 103.88.
In the swimming events on the men's side,
Leo Lauridsen finished second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:17.00.
Aaron Turgeon finished in second place in three events for the Owls, two of which them being individual events, the 200 free, with a time of 1:52.14 (.9 seconds behind Connor Quirbach, who finished in first for Saint Michael's) and the other event being the 200 IM (2:11.64). His third event was the 200 medley relay where he was joined by
Evan Keefe, Zack Menz, and Zachary Perry for a 1:45.49 time.
"Our team did a great job of stepping up and racing a tough St. Mike's squad today." Keene State head coach, Chris Woolridge said about his team's performance. "They took a nice step forward performance wise, which was encouraging as we get into the heart of our training this semester. I'm looking forward to seeing what they can put together next week at Gordon!"
The Owls' next meet will take place against the Scots on Saturday, October 26, at 1:00 PM.
