WELLESLEY, Mass.—The Keene State College swim and dive team wrapped up competition at the Little East Conference championships on Sunday at the Boston Sports Institute.
The Owl women came into Sunday's finale just 13 points out of first, but won just one race on Sunday to finish third, the first time since 2005 that the LEC championship trophy is not coming back to Keene. Eastern Connecticut State won its first ever championship with 805 points, while Bridgewater State was second with 786 points and KSC was third with 780 points.
Keene State won the 400 meter relay, as Allie Stewart, Lexi Quinn, Jillian O'Neil, and Kiley Young touched in first in 3:43.33.
Rory Lee was second in the mile, in 19:10.34, and Mia DeStefani was third in the 200 breaststroke in 2:38.65. Olivia Boulris was third in the 200 fly in 2:25.59.
The Keene State men were third, as they continue to look for their first LEC championship since the league began offering a full championship in 2022. KSC win the LEC Invitational in 2020, the first organized LEC competition for men.
Aaron Turgeon set yet another meet record, this time in the 100 IM, in 53.39, besting a mark set in 2022 by Christoper Anastasiades of Bridgewater State.
Samuel Galipeau was second in the mile, in 17:36.27, and Braeden Ledder was second in the 50 backstroke, in 25.71. Logan Phillips, Caden Hedquist, Jeremy Bartley, and Turgeon was second in 3:16.64.
Bridgewater State won its third consecutive title with 955 points, while Eastern Connecticut State was second with 836 points, two ahead of the Owls with 834.
