PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Two Keene State College student-athletes were honored by the Little East Conference for their achievements accomplished for the week of 2/9-2/15.
Women's Ice Hockey
Sophomore goaltender
Ai Chung (Kaohsiung City, Taiwan) was named the LEC Goaltender of the Week for the fourth week this season, from her performance in net for the Owls over their 1-1 weekend against the Spartans. Over the two games, Chung made 88 saves as she allowed just five goals over the 123:35 in goal for a 2.44 GAA and 94.6 SV%. Following making 45 saves in net on Friday night in the Owls' defeat, Chung bounced back by only allowing one goal on Saturday afternoon, making 43 saves in the 2-1 overtime win for a .93 GAA and 97.7 SV%. Chung continues to move closer to the 1,000 career save mark as her career total is up to 936 career saves over her first two seasons as an Owl.
Chung and the Owls return to the ice on the road this upcoming weekend with their last two games of the regular season at the University of Southern Maine with huge postseason implications on Friday, February 20, at 6:00 PM, and on Saturday, February 21, at 3:00 PM.
Men's Indoor Track and Field
Junior
Tyler Bolaske (Palmer, Mass.) was named the LEC Track Athlete of the Week once again for the third time this season from his performance on Friday night at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University. In the 3k, Bolaske ran the event in 8:18.39, placing 121st among an event with a majority of NCAA Division I runners, while also placing seventh among NCAA Division III runners on the day. Bolaske's time is currently the 40th-best in all of NCAA Division III on the season and is the second-best mark in the event in program history.
Bolaske and the Owls return to action at the Little East Conference championships on Saturday, February 21, at Plymouth State University at 10:00 AM.
