KEENE, NH 10/2/01 - Tanya Strong (Hatfield, MA.) had a goal and
three assists and Melissa Harnch-Smith (Newburyport, MA.) added a
goal and two assists to lead the Keene State College field hockey
team to a 6-0 Little East Conference victory over Bridgewater State
at Owl Stadium Complex on Tuesday.
The win snapped KSC's (6-5, 4-1 LEC) two game losing streak.
Bridgewater State falls to 6-4 (4-1 LEC). Goals by Harnch-Smith and
Strong less than a minute apart in the first half gave KSC a 2-0
lead. Shauna Colon added a goal late in the half to give KSC a 3-0
half-time advantage.
Annie Timson (Derry, NH), Nicole Dallas (Marlow, NH) and Kaitlyn
Henley (Somers, NY) added second half goals.
Harnch-Smith now has a team-leading seven goals this season
while Strong has four goals and a team-leading seven assists. The
Owls had a 28-3 advantage in shots in the game.
Lindsay Hamilton (Brattleboro, Vt.) (four saves) with late
relief help form Amy Carroll (one save) notched her fourth shutout
of the season. Johannah Price (Shannock, RI) had three saves for
the Bears.
KSC will be at Southern ME for a key LEC game on Saturday (1
p.m.).
