'MANSFIELD, CONN. 10/4/03 - Nichole Dallas' (Marlow, N.H.)
converted a penalty stroke 19 minutes into sudden death overtime to
lift Keene State College to a 3-2 Little East Conference field
hockey victory over host Eastern Conn. State University on
Saturday.
Keene State improves to 6-4 and remains undefeated (4-0) in the
conference. Eastern Conn. falls to 2-7 (0-3 LEC).
LEC all-star Tanya Strong (Hatfield, Mass.), had two goals, her
ninth and 10th of the season, as KSC and ECSU battled to a 2-2 tie
after regulation play. KSC has outscored LEC opponents 14-4 so far
this season.
After a scoreless first overtime, Dallas, the LEC's defensive
player of the year, gave the Owls the win with her second
penalty stroke game-winner of the season. Earlier, the senior
defender gave KSC a win against Framingham State with a
penalty stroke goal. The penalty stroke resulted after a pile up in
front of the Warriors' net.
Michelle Codding (Jericho, Vt.) made two saves for the Owls
while Michelle Santora finished with 18 saves for ECSU.
KSC hosts Bridgewater State on Tuesday (7 p.m.).
