'KEENE, N.H. 10/7/03 - Keene State College field hockey team
moved into sole possession of first place in the Little East
Conference with a 5-1 victory over Bridgewater State College at Owl
Athletic Complex on Tuesday.
Senior Nichole Dallas (Marlow, N.H.) had two goals and an assist
to lead the Owls, who improve to 7-4 overall and remain undefeated
(5-0) in league play. Dallas opened the scoring for KSC with
a penalty corner goal 3:20 into the first half. Carly Sweeney
(Gardener, Mass.) got an assists on the play.
Bridgewater got the equalizer when senior forward Kacie
Hinchliffe (New Bedford, Mass.) netted a goal 12:34 into the
half.
KSC put the game away with three unanswered goals in the
remaining minutes of the first half. Strong scored her a team
leading 11th goal of the season, Dallas netted her second of the
night, and Kaitlin Henley (Somers, N.Y.) assisted by Dallas scored
on a break away to finish the attack.
Steph Georgevits (Concord, N.H.) scored the lone goal in the
second half for KSC.
Michelle Codding (Jericho, VT) had an easy night in goal for KSC
with one save. Lauren Mazzola (Westwood, Mass.) and Amanda
Johnson (East Bridgewater, Mass.) split time in goal for BSC.
Mazzola finished with 16 saves.
KSC had a 36-2 shot advantage in the game.
KSC travels to Amherst College on Thursday (7 p.m.).
