'PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Keene State College took first place in 13 of
the 16 events Wednesday evening and posted a 165-120 victory over
Plymouth State University in a women's swimming and diving meet at
the PSU Natatorium.
Keene State improves to 4-1 with the triumph, while PSU falls to
3-4.
The Owls were led by freshman Katlin Pryor (Jaffrey, N.H.), who
collected three individual victories, broke two KSC marks, and set
a pool record. She took the 200 yard butterfly in two
minutes, 18.46 seconds, the 200 yard backstroke in a pool record
2:20.07, and the 100 yard butterfly in 1:02.33. Her marks in
the 100 and 200 butterfly were Owl records. Juniors Megan
Humphries (New Hartford, N.Y.) and Cathy Sue Klein (Middlesex,
N.J.) also won two individual events apiece, Humphries taking the
100 free (56.61 seconds) and the 200 breast (2:39.83) and Klein
winning the 200 free (2:06.56) and the 500 free (5:39.23).
Keene State's other individual winners were freshman Devon
Trabilsy (Hillsborough, N.J.) in the 1000 free (11:37.74), senior
Meredith O'Rourke (Bedford, N.H.) in the 100 breast (1:15.08),
senior Lisa Wandeloski (Westfield, Mass.) in the 50 free (26.76),
and freshman Megan Flynn (Colebrook, Conn.) in the 200 individual
medley (2:23.58).
Plymouth State's highlights came in the diving events. Senior
Krit Kearins (Andover, Mass.) captured the one-meter, breaking her
own school and pool record with a score of 244.85, and classmate
Becky Huntington (Hampstead, N.H.) was victorious in the
three-meter with a score of 229.90. PSU's only swimming
victory was provided by freshman Cait Anton (Woolwich, Maine) in
the 100-yard backstroke (season-best 1:06.42).
PSU is back in action this Saturday with a dual meet at Saint
Joseph College (Conn.). Keene State returns home to host
Eastern Connecticut and the University of New England Saturday at
1:00 p.m.
