'NEW LONDON, N.H. 10/22/05 - Keene State College men's and
women's swim teams opened up their 2005-06 season with a tri-meet
at Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday. The Owl men defeated
Colby-Sawyer (177-88) and Roger Williams University
(167-101). The KSC women split, beating Roger Williams
(159-121) and losing to Colby-Sawyer (149-131).
Senior Scott Seligman (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Dan Ormrod
(Branford, Conn.) won a pair of races for the Owls. Seligman
captured the 50-yard breaststroke (28.77) and the 100 breaststroke
(1:02. 88) while Ormrod prevailed in the 50 back stroke (27.50) and
100 back stroke (1:00.35). Both swimmers joined Adam Van
Brandenburg (Tenafly, N.J.) and Charlie Garrigan (Camden, Me.) on
the victorious 200 medley relay (1:45.22).
Garrigan also win the 200 freestyle (1:52.77). In distance
events, John West topped the field in the 1,000 freestyle
(11:02.60) and Kyle Uricchio (Enfield, Conn.) won the 500 freestyle
(5:20.75).
Finishing where she left off last season, sophomore Katlin Pryor
(Jaffrey, N.H.) won three events; the 50 butterfly (28.74), 100
butterfly (1:04.56), and the 200 freestyle (2:04.21). Junior
Devon Trabilsy (Hillsborough, N.J.) also won the 100 breastroke
(1:15.52) and the 1,000 freestyle (11:43.70) and took second in the
100 individual medley (1:10.39). In diving, senior Andria
Titko (East Longmeadow, Mass.) won the one-meter event with 163.90
points.
Several freshmen also shined for the owls, including Kelly
Widman (Middlebury, Conn.) who came in second in the 50 freestyle (
27.64) and Katie Allenson (Clifton Park, N.Y.) who was the
runner-up in the 100 freestyle (1:00.10.).
