'NORTHFIELD, VT. 11/12/05 - The Keene State College women's swim
team placed first and the Owl men's team placed second to Norwich
University in a dual meet held at Goodyear Pool in Northfield, Vt.
on Saturday.
KSC defeated Norwich 179-72. The Owl women won nine out of
14 events at the meet.
Devon Trabilsy (Hillsborough, N.J.) and Kaitlin Pryor (Jaffrey,
N.H.) led KSC winning two events each. Trabilsy took first in the
200-yard freestyle (2:12.79) and the 100-yard breaststroke
(1:18.40), while Pryor placed first in the 100-yard (58.27) and
1,000-yard freestyle (11:09.78) events. Other top finishers
for the Owls included Shannon McSpirit (Londonderry, N.H.) in the
50-yard breaststroke (37.73), Kelly Yankowski (Turners Falls,
Mass.) in the 50-yard freestyle, Caitlin Coulombe (Lincoln, R.I.)
in the 100-yard butterfly, and Liesel Dolce (Jamestown, R.I.)
in the 100-yard backstroke (1:10.65). The 400-yard medley
relay team of Dolce, Trabilsy, Coulombe, and Kelly Widman
(Middlebury, Conn.) also placed first with a time of 4:32.95.
The Keene State men had 129 points to finish behind Norwich
(148).
Scott Seligman (Clifton Park, N.Y.) led the Owl men with
victories in the 50-yard breaststroke (28:45) and the 100-yard
breaststroke (1:02.69). Keene State's other individual
winners were Jim McClain (Brookline, Mass.) in the 50-yard
freestyle (25.93), Adam Van Brandenburg (Tenafly, N.J.) in the
200-yard freestyle (1:53.31), and Kyle Uricchio (Enfield, Conn.) in
the 400-yard individual medley (4:37.23). Van Brandenburg and
Seligman also teamed up with Dan Ormrod (Branford, Conn.) and Moe
Mulholland (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) to win the 200-yard freestyle
relay.
The KSC men's and women's teams travel to Bentley College for
the Bentley Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 20 (10:30 a.m.).
