'KEENE, N.H. 12/10/05 - The Keene State College women's swim
team finished first and the Owl men's team placed second to
Worcester Polytechnic Institute in dual meets held Saturday at
Spaulding Gym Pool in Keene, N.H.
The KSC women improve their dual meet record to 3-2 with the
153-146 victory over WPI. The Owl men narrowly lost 145-143
to drop to 2-3 on the season.
Katlin Pryor (Jaffrey, N.H.) and Devon Trabilsy (Hillsborough,
N.J.) highlighted the win for the Owls as each earned a pair of
first place individual finishes. Pryor captured the 100-yard
freestyle (57.27) and 1650-yard freestyle (18:47.88), while
Trabilsy placed first in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.41)
and 200-breaststroke (2:42.98). Kelly Widman (Middlebury,
Conn.) placed first in the 50-yard freestyle (27.82) and Katie
Allenson (Clifton Park, N.Y.) finished first in the 200-yard
freestyle (2:10.51) to round out the top individual performances
for the Owls.
Pryor and Trabilsy also joined teammates Widman, and Yankowski
on the winning 400-yard medley relay team (4:23.15), while Pryor,
Allenson, Yankowski, and Widman teamed up to take first in the
400-yard freestyle relay (3:55.43).
Diver Andria Titko (East Longmeadow, Mass.) finished first in
the one-meter diving event with 172.95 points.
Karen O'Sullivan led WPI with first place finishes in the
100-(1:03.83) and 200-yard butterfly (2:21.69), and 400-yard
individual medley (5:00.23).
Scott Seligman (Clifton Park, N.Y.) won the 100- (1:01.39) and
200-yard breaststroke (2:24.26) races and Kyle Uricchio (Enfield,
Conn.) prevailed in the 200-yard butterfly (2:11.77) and 400-yard
individual medley (4:35.30) to lead the Owls. Seligman's time in
the 100 breaststroke was a school record. Other top finishers
included Charlie Garrigan (Camden, Me.) in the 100-yard freestyle
(51.29) and Adam Van Brandenburg in the 200-yard freestyle
(1:54.36). The 400-yard medley relay team of Garrigan, Seligman,
Dan Ormrod (Branford, Conn.), and Van Brandenburg also placed first
with a time of 3:50.96. Moe Mulholland (Saratoga Springs,
N.Y.) teamed up with Ormrod, Garrigan and Van Brandenburg to
capture the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:25.86).
Joel Rousseau placed first in the 100-yard (57.04) and 200-yard
backstroke (2:04.34) events and 100-yard butterfly (52.81) to lead
WPI.
The Keene State women are off until January 18 (6 p.m.) when it
faces Plymouth State University at Plymouth. The Owl
men are off until the Bridgewater State College meet on January 25
in Bridgewater, Mass.
