'PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Keene State College captured 12 of the 16
events Wednesday evening and defeated rival Plymouth State
University, 172-118, in a women's swimming and diving meet at the
PSU Natatorium.
Sophomore Christina DiGiacomo (Meriden, Conn.) and junior
Danielle DeStefano (Centerville, Mass.) were double winners for the
Panthers in the loss. DiGiacomo touched the wall first in the
200-yard freestyle (with a season-best time of 2:07.37), and she
added a first place in the 500-yard freestyle (also a season-best
time of 5:45.32). DeStefano was the winner of both diving
events for the sixth time in seven dual meets this season, taking
the one-meter event with a score of 179.45 and the three-meter with
a 210.30.
Junior Katy Pryor (Jaffrey, N.H.) was a triple winner for Keene
State, taking the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events (1:05.09 and
2:18.67, respectively) as well as the 100-yard butterfly
(1:04.54). She also anchored the winning KSC 400-yard free
relay team.
Three other Owls captured two individual events apiece.
Junior Caitlin Coulombe (Lincoln, R.I.) captured the 200-yard fly
(2:26.68) and 200-yard individual medley (2:24.86); junior Devon
Trabilsy (Hillsborough, N.J.) won the 100- and 200-yard
breaststroke (1:16.38 and 2:43.90, respectively); and sophomore
Kelly Yankowski (Turners Falls, Mass.) finished first in the 50-
and 100-yard free (26.55 and 58.54, respectively).
PSU, 2-5 overall, is back in the pool again Saturday with a dual
at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, Conn. (1:00 p.m.)
KSC, 4-2, returns home to host Eastern Connecticut on Saturday
(1:00 p.m.)
