Owls Swim Past Panthers 158-122

             KEENE, N.H. 1/14/09 - The Keene State College women's swim team won all 16 events en route to a 158-122 dual meet victory over rival Plymouth State University at Spaulding Gym Pool on Wednesday night.

            The Owls, who evened their record at 4-4, have won all 11 meets against the Panthers since moving to Division III in the 1997-98 season.  PSU (1-4) has dropped its last three meets.

            KSC was led by junior Alea Paddock (Newbury, N.H.) who swam to wins in the 50 breast (32.80), 100 breast (1:11.46) and the 200 I.M. (2:19.30). Four Owl swimmers posted double victories in the meet.  Junior Kristine Trutor (Holden, Mass.) won the 50 back (29.53) and the 100 back (1:03.83), junior Jackie Foster,  (Bedford, N.H.), the LEC swimmer of the week, won the 200 free (2:02.21) and the 500 free (5:22.84), freshman Maureen O'Leary (Nashua, N.H.) won the 50 fly (28.68) and the 100 fly (1:03.87) and freshman Jillian Whitaker, the LEC rookie swimmer of the week, won the 50 free (25.85) and the 100 free (55.50)

            Sophomore Rachel Battis (Beacon Falls, Conn.) won both one-meter (198.20 points) and 3-meter (180.80 points) diving events.

            Sophomore Jessica Laidley (Brockton, Mass.) also had a first place finish in the 1,000 free (11:18.83).

            The Owls also captured both relays. The team of Tutor, Paddock, O'Leary, and Whitaker won the 200 medley relay (1:56.57). Senior Katie Allenson (Clifton Park, N.Y.) joined forces with Tutor, Foster, and Whitaker to win the 400 free relay (3:54.54).

            The Panthers were led by freshman Nicole Brodeur (Claremont, N.H.) who had had second place finishes in the 100 free (58.08), the 200 free (2:05.11) and the 50 fly (29.73).

            Both teams return to the pool on Saturday. The Owls will be at Eastern Conn. and the Panthers travel to Bridgewater State. Both meets begin at 1 p.m.
