KEENE, N.H. 1/24/09 - Keene State men's and women's
swim/dive teams posted dual meets victories over Bentley University
at Spaulding Gym Pool on Saturday.
The Keene State men (7-4) won 14 of 16 events to defeat Bentley
198-101. The Owl women (7-4) won 11 of 14 swim races to
defeat the Falcons 174-124.
The Keene State men had five double-winners. Junior
Domingo Rose (Nashua , N.H.) won the 100 breast
(1:00.97) and the 200 breast (2:17.00), sophomore Connor
Pennoyer (Norwalk, Conn.) won the 100 fly (53.190 and the
200 fly (2:02.60), sophomore Dan Morse (Hope, R.I.
) won the 500 free (4:57.290 and the 1,000 Free (10:15.51),
sophomore Karl Balinski (Waterford, Conn.) won the
50 free (22.59) and the 100 free (49.60) and freshman Colin
Daly (Cromwell, Conn.) win the 100 back (53.907) and the
200 I.M. (2:04.71).
Freshman Harrison Hollingsworth (Derry, N.H.)
also won the 200 back (1:57.03) and freshman Derek
Peabody (Haverhill, Mass.) won the three-meter (199.80
points) diving event.
Daly, Rose, Pennoyer, and Hollingsworth won the 200 medley relay
(1:39.61) and Dan Theelen (Southbury, Conn.) Balinski, Pennoyer,
and Hollinsgworth reamed up to win the 400 free relay (3:20.50).
Sophomore Alea Paddock (Newbury, N.H.) won
three races to lead the Owl women. Paddock won the 100 breast
(1:11.28), the 200 breast (2:35.57) and the 200 I.M. (2:19.14).
Junior Kristine Trutor (Holden, Mass.) and
freshman Jillian Whitaker (Gilford, N.H.) were
double winners. Trutor won the 100 back (1:02.78) and the 200 back
(2:16.38) and Whitaker won the 50 free (25.67) and the 100 free
(55.51).
Junior Jackie Foster (Bedford, N.H.) won the
500 free (5:23.34) and sophomore Jessica Laidley (Brockton, Mass.)
won the 1,000 free (11:13.30).
Freshman Maureen O'Leary (Nashua, N.H.),
Trutor, Paddock, and Foster joined forces to win the 200 medley
relay (1:54.45) and Senior Katie Allenson (Clifton Park, N.Y.),
Foster, Whitaker, and O'Leary teamed up to win the 400 free relay
(3:51.61).
The KSC women defeated Bentley at last year's NEISDA
championship. The KSC men came in second to the Falcons at the New
England meet.
The Owls are at Gordon College next Saturday.
