MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. 3/19/09- Keene State's Kristine
Trutor raced to honorable mention All-American honors in
the 100 butterfly event at the NCAA Division III Swimming and
Diving Championships taking place at the University Aquatic
Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota on
Thursday.
Trutor, a junior from Holden, Mass. finished 14th out of 47
competitors with a school record time of 57.09. Trutor is the
first KSC women's swimmer to reach the finals and score at the
national meet.
Trutor was very pleased with her NCAA debut performance.
"I couldn't be any happier," she said. "I live for this."
"Krissy was seeded very low in the event, so the fact that she
was able to move up to the top-15 says a lot about her ability to
compete," said KSC Coach Jack Fabian. "She swam like a pro."
Trutor will also swim in the 100 backstroke on Friday and the 50
backstroke on Saturday at the nationals.
