KEENE, N.H. 1/16/10 - The Keene State College women's swim dive
team won all 16 events in a 140-116 dual meet victory over Eastern
Connecticut State University at Spaulding Gym Pool on Saturday.
The Owls, who improve their dual meet record to 4-3, continued
their dominance in the pool against LEC competition. Since
joining the LEC, KSC has a perfect 28-0 dual meet record against
conference teams.
Senior Alea Paddock (Newbury, N.H.) had a big day
in the pool for the Owls, winning three events. She posted
wins in the 400 I.M. (4:49.41), 100 breast (1:10.77), and 200
breast (2:33.84).
Seniors Kristine Trutor (Holden, Mass.) and
Jackie Foster (Goffstown, N.H.), sophomore
Jillian Whitaker (Gilford, N.H.), and freshman
Kaila Umbarger (Chelmsford, Mass.) were double
winners for the Owls. Trutor won the 100 back (1:01.52) and
the 200 back (2:17.13), Foster won the 200 free (2:02.50) and 500
free (5:25.18), Whitaker won the 100 free (55.76) and the 100 I.M.
(1:03.010), and Umbarger won the 50 free (24.86) and the 100 fly
(1:00.11).
Sophomore Maureen O'Leary (Nashua, N.H.) won the
200 fly (2:20.27) and freshman Jaclyn Rando
(Walpole, Mass.) won both one-meter (196.30 points) and three-meter
(184.55 points) diving events.
KSC also swept both relays. Sophomore Meghan
Wilson (Torrington, Conn.) teamed with Whitaker, Trutor,
and Umbarger to win the 200 medley relay (1:53.47) and Paddock,
O'Leary, Trutor, and Foster combined to win the 400 free relay
(3:52.00).
"I was happy the way we raced after some intense training in Puerto
Rico," said KSC Coach Jack Fabian. "Sometimes the first meet
out of winter training can be a challenge, but the swimmers seemed
very focused and performed well."
Keene State swims at Bentley College next Saturday.
