KNOXVILLE, TENN. 3/25/11 –Keene State College set two school records at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the Jones Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee on Friday.
Junior Jillian Whitaker scored the only points for the Owls, finishing 13th in the 100 breast in a school record time of 1:04.53.
The Keene State men's 800 free relay team of seniors Cody Larrimore (Trappe, Md.) and Connor Pennoyer (Norwalk, Conn.) and freshmen Drew Ledwith (Keene, N.H.) and Jared Hyde (Tolland, Conn.) set the other school record (6:53.24) with their 17th place finish in the event.
In preliminary races, junior Maureen O'Leary (Nashua, N.H.) placed 30th in the 200 fly (2:12.31) and Larrimore finished 31st in the 100 back (52.64).
After 28 events, the Keene State women are in 15th place with 51 points. Emory leads with 420 points. In the men's field, Keene State is 28th with 14 points. Kenyon is on top of the standings with 362.5 points.
On Saturday, Ledwith will swim in the 1,650 free. He comes into the championship with the top time of 15:30.16. Sophomore Kaila Umbarger (Chelmsford, Mass.) is seeded 10th in the 100 free with a time of 51.21.
