KEENE STATE OWLS

Women's Swimming and Diving

Owls Swamp Panthers 168-81

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Six-time Little East Conference champion Keene State College swept all 14 swimming events and established six pool records Wednesday afternoon to defeat Plymouth State University, 168-81, in a women's swimming and diving meet at the PSU Natatorium.

Keene State improved to 4-1 in dual meets this winter; the Panthers salvaged the two diving events but fell to 0-5 on the season.

Freshman Diana Pimer (West Haven, Conn.) led the Owls, winning two individual events, swimming on two winning relay teams, and setting pool records in all four events.  She captured the 400-yard individual medley in 4:44.80 and the 100-yard individual medley in 1:04.04, both new pool standards.

Pimer was joined by sophomore Stephanie Murray (Haverhill, Mass.), senior Meghan Wilson (Torrington, Conn.) and freshman Caity Shea (Salem, N.H.) on the winning and record-setting 400-yard medley relay squad (4:21.76), and Primer was followed by Murray, freshman Lindsey Day (Chelmsford, Mass.) and senior Jill Whitaker (Gilford, N.H.) on the winning and record-setting 200-yard free relay team (1:46.74).

Keene State used a balanced team effort, as Pimer and Shea were the only double winners in individual events.  Shea captured the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.57) and the 100-yard freestyle (52.76). Other freestyle winners for the Owls included freshman Taylor DaSilva (Stony Brook, N.Y.) in the 50 (26.57 seconds); freshman Julie Trodden (Reading, Mass.) in the 200 (2:00.49), and Murray in the 500 with a pool-record time of 5:20.07.

Whitaker and sophomore Nicole Rutigliano (Woodbury, Conn.) swept the backstroke events for the Owls, Whitaker setting a pool record in winning the 50 back (29.73 seconds) and Rutigliano taking the 100 back (1:05.93). Wilson and freshman Amelia Good (Meriden, N.H.) were the winners of the breaststroke events, with Wilson touching the wall first in the 50 breast (34.01) and Good doing the same in the 100 (1:15.30).  Senior Maureen O'Leary (Nashua, N.H.) also posted a win for the Owls in the 50-yard butterfly (27.70).

PSU sophomore Shannon Rogers (Beverly, Mass.) went uncontested en route to capturing the one-meter and three-meter diving events (149.00 and 159.20, respectively).  Senior Nicole Brodeur (Claremont, N.H.) earned second-place finishes for PSU in the 50 fly (29.55) and 100 fly (1:06.08).

The Owls return home to host Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday.
