KEENE, N.H.  10/9/12 – The Middlebury College field hockey team demonstrated why they are ranked second in Division III, posting a dominating 9-0 shutout victory over Keene State College at Owl Athletic Complex on Tuesday.

            Middlebury College (11-0) remains undefeated this season.  Keene State (9-5) saw its six game winning streak come to an end.  It's the most goals the Owls have ever given up in a single game.  KSC played the contest without two key starters; sophomore Caitlin Davino-Draper (Hanover, Mass.) and freshman Lyndsie Rabenius (North Hampton, N.H.).  

            After keeping the Panthers at bay for the first 17 minutes, the flood gates opened.   The Panthers poured in five first half goals and found the back of the net four more times in the second half.

            Senior Lauren Greer (North Hampton, N.H.), who leads Division III in goals and points per game, tied her career high with five goals for Middlebury.  Sophomore Catherine Fowler (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) finished the game with two goals and four assists.

            Freshman Anna Kenyon (Dedham, Mass.) also had two goals. Juniors Katherine Theiss (Wilmette, Ill.) and Elinore O'Brien (New Canaan, Conn.) and freshman Shannon Hutteman (Webster, N.Y.) also scored for Middlebury.

            The game was played in Keene State's side of the field.  Middlebury outshot the Owls 31-2 and had a wide 21-2 advantage in corner opportunities.

            Freshman Meaghan Dwyer (Rutland, Mass.) started in goal for KSC and made 10 saves.  Freshman Chloe Audesse (Goffstown, N.H.) played the final 22:53 and made one save.

            Both senior Madeline Brooks (Clayton, Mo.) and sophomore Emily Knapp (Scarsdale, N.Y.) saw action in goal for the Panthers.  Brooks played the first 60:51 and made one save.  Knapp didn't register a save in the final 9:09.

            "Their very strong.  They go full-throttle," said KSC Coach Amy Watson.  "It's good to play a team like Middlebury. It doesn't get any better at this level.  If we move on that's the type of competition we'll face."

            Middlebury has won its last four games, outscoring opponents 32-0.

            The Panthers, who reached the NCAA finals last season, have posted 10 straight wins over the Owls.  Eight of those wins have been shutouts.

            Keene State is at Castleton State on Thursday (4 p.m.)
