KEENE, N.H. 12/7/13 – The Keene State College men's swimming and diving team had a record-setting day going up went up against some of the regions' strongest programs at the MIT Invitational this weekend.
Senior Drew Ledwith (Keene, N.H.) won three races, finishing first in the 400 IM (3:59.42), the 500 free (4:26.53) and the 1,650 free (15:14.22). He set school records and made NCAA cut times in both the 500 and 1,650 races. His 400 IM mark was also an NCAA cut time.
Senior Jared Hyde (Tolland,Conn.) also set a new Owl record and made an NCAA cut placing first in the 200 IM (1:51.57) and finishing third in the 200 breast (2:05.08). Meanwhile, sophomore Shahar Resman (Ashdod, Israel) was the first swimmer to touch the wall in the 200 free (1:41.26). Resman's time was an NCAA Championship 'B' cut.
Sophomore Greg Youngstrom (West Hartford, Conn.) set a new school mark (45.58) and posted an NCAA cut with his third place finish in the 100 free.
The Owls also set new school recordsand recorded NCAA cuts in a couple of relays. The team of junior Randy Dunton (St. Cloud, Fla.), freshman Nathan Shepard (Keene, N.H.), Hyde and Youngstrom put a new record on the board (1:32.74) with their second place performacne in the 200 medley relay.
In addition, freshman Ryan Boraski(North Attleborough, Mass.) teammed with Dunton, Shepard, senior Dan Oliveira (Ludlow, Mas.) to set a new KSC record with their third place finish (3:25.87) in the 400 medley relay.
The group of senior James Black (Lynn, Mass.), Ledwith, Hyde and Youngstrom also set a new record (3:01.75) and had an NCAA cut time with their second place effort in the 400 free relay.
The foursome of sophomore of Cole Hogg (Manchester, N.H.), Ledwith, Resman and Hyde also won the 800 free relay with a NCAA cut Itme time of 6:40.50.
