Box Score Henniker, N.H. 9/7/12 — Sophomore Lyndsie Rabenius (North Hampton, N.H.) and freshman Sami Smith (Merrimack, N.H.) finished with two goals each to lead the Keene State College field hockey team to a 5-0 shutout win over the New England College Pilgrims in Henniker, N.H. on Saturday .
With the win the Owls remain undefeated on the season, improving to 3-0 overall. The loss drops the Pilgrims to 1-3 on the season.
Keene would get on the board just 2:16 into the game when Smith dribbled past a Pilgrim defender to score the first goal of the game.
Despite dominating the offensive play in the first half out shooting NEC 14-0, the Owls couldn't get the ball past Pilgrim keeper Courtney Duquette (Enfield, N.H.), who collected 10 saves and defender Jaclyn Papgni (Lynnfield, Mass., who posted three defensive saves holding the Owls to the one first half goal.
Keene State finally broke thought in the second half, scoring three goals in the opening 10 minutes. Senior Aimee Donaruma began the flurry at the 40:33 mark with her fist goal of the season. Rabenius netted two goals in a span of three minutes as the Owls built up a 4-1 lead.
Keene State tacked on an additional score in the 52nd minute when Smith scored off a nice centering pass from Haylie Dolan (West Brookfield, Mass.) for her second goal of the game and fifth of the season.
Keene finished the game, out shooting NEC 29-1 and holding an 18-1 advantage in corners.
Sophomore Chloe Audesse (Goffstown, N.H.) and Nicole Defilippo (Newtown, N.H.) saw action in goal for KSC. Defilippo made one second half save. Duquette had a busy game in goal, finishing with 21 saves.
NEC returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 10 when they host non-conference opponent Worcester State University. Keene State will hit the field again on Tuesday, Sept. 10 when they host non-conference opponent Williams College.
