INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--Drew Ledwith and Shahar Resman both placed second and fifth, respectively, in the 500 meter freestyle on the first day of the NCAA Championships the the IU Natatorium on Wednesday.
Ledwith placed second in the 500 meter free, in 4:26.94, while Resman was fifth in 4:29.26. Both earned All-American honors for their efforts.
Two Keene State swimmers were named Honorable Mention All-American - senior Jared Hyde, who finished 12th in the 200 yard individual medley in 1:50.27, and Greg Youngstrom, who was 13th in the 50 freestyle in 20.60. Hyde and Youngstrom also named a second Honorable Mention All-America honor as part of the 200 medley relay that set a new KSC record in 1:31.97. Ryan Boraski, who swam the backstroke leg of the relay, also set a new KSC mark in the morning's preliminary in the backstroke.
The Owls sit in sixth place after the first day of competition, with 45 points. Denison University leads the way with 173 points, with Kenyon College in second with 104.
Day two of the NCAA Championships begins at 10 a.m. with preliminaries in the 200 freestyle relay, 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, and 400 medley relay. Resman and Ledwith will compete in the 200 freestyle, and the Owls' 200 freestyle relay team is also entered.
