SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I.--The Keene State Colege swimming and diving teams added to their lead at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday.
The Owl women finished with the day with 1,146.5 points, a 148 lead over second placed Roger Williams University, while the Owl men have 720 points, comfortably ahead of the RWU, which sits in second with 444.
For the Owl women, the 200 medley relay grouping of Diana Pimer, Brianna Laliberte, Amber Long, and Allison Bartlett won in 1:46.45, while Long picked up an individual win in the 400 IM in 4:39.25.
Bartlett also posted a win in the 50 fly, in 26.20, beating RWU's Andrea Almandoz by just .10 seconds. Pimer did as well, taking the 100 breast in 1:05.28.
Pimer, Bartlett, along with Hope Walsh and Caity Shea, comprised the 800 free relay team that won in a dominating 7:48.52, nearly 11 full seconds ahead of the second place group.
Keene State also set a new NEISDA record for the second straight day, this time on the men's side, as Randy Dunton, Nathan Shepard, Luke Sprague, and Greg Youngstrom won the 200 medley relay in 1:33.01, besting a five year old mark set by KSC's Harrison Hollingsworth, Connor Pennoyer, Domingo Rose, and Cody Larrimore.
Christopher Deegan won the 400 IM in 4:09.48, an eight second victory, while Cole Hogg also won, in 200 free, with a time of 1:42.45.
Dunton set a second meet record of the day, this time in the 100 back. His time of 51.04 broke a mark set in 1998 by Cyrus King of Williams College.
Shepard placed first in the 100 breaststroke in 57.36, and the Owls closed out the day with a victory in the 800 free relay as Sprague, Deegan, Hogg, and Graham Lott touched in with a time of 6:58.68.
The meet concludes on Sunday.
