Keene State Swimmers Do Battle With Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass.--Kyle Shadeck won three more events as the Keene State College swimming and diving team took part in a dual meet against Bentley University at the Dana Center Pool on Saturday.

The Owls were defeated in the dual meet, with the men falling 209-87 and the women by a score of 199-95.

Men's Highlights

Shadeck picked up three wins, plus a second place nod.  The sophomore won the 200 fly in 2:00.36, and the 100 fly in 55.33.  He also touched the wall first in a nailbiting 100 IM, winning in 56.52, fractions of a second ahead of Jonny Boains, who finished in 56.90.  Shadeck was also part of the 200 medley relay that finished second, joining forces with Antony Hubbard, JT Barth, and Eric King to record a time of 1:43.72.

Hubbard added a second place finish in the 100 backstroke, in 58.86, and was also second in the 200 back in 2:09.52.  Barth added a win in 1:04.08, and King came in third in a very close 50 free, in 23.05, and was second in the 100 free in 50.59, just .04 out of first place.

Women's Highlights

Hope Walsh won the mile for the second time in four days, in 18:05.90, one of several wins for the Keene State women.   Madison Pechulis won the 100 breast in 1:12.22, just ahead of teammate Emily McMahon, who was second in 1;12.65.  Margaret Dean took home first in the 50 free in 25.69, and was also part of a win in the 200 medley relay, with McMahon Hannah Wood, and Sophie Hayes to clock in at 1:54.98.

Walsh also added a third place finish in the 200 free in in 2:03.05, and was also third in the 500 free in 5:25.66.   Sophie Hayes took second place in the 200 fly in 2:14.34, while Wood took home a pair of second place finishes, including the 200 back in 2:14.89, and the 100 back in 1:01.34.  Wood, Dean, Katie Brandeberry, and Kristyn Simoneau also formed the 200 free relay team that finished second.  Pechulis added another second place finish in 200 breaststroke in 2:37.42, missing a win by a mere .05.
