Swim and Dive Sends Seniors Out Against Bridgewater State, Brandeis

KEENE, N.H.--The Keene State College swimming and diving team honored its six seniors in a tri-meet against Bridgewater State University and Brandeis University on Saturday afternoon.

Seniors Hope Walsh, Margaret Dean, Alexandra McCafferty, Rachel MacKinnon, Emily McMahon, and Antony Hubbard were honored before the meet for their contributions to the program.

The women defeated Brandeis 150-87 and Bridgewater State 178-47, while the men fell to Brandeis 155-69 and to Bridgewater State 131-100.

Women's Highlights

Hope Walsh won three events in her final home meet, taking the 1,000 free in 11:03.55, as well as the 200 back in 2:15.59 and the 500 back in 5:25.36.

Jessica Masotta won both boards, with a score of 170 on the 1-meter board and 168.55 on the 3-meter board.    Hannah Wood won the 200 free in 2:03.37, while Margaret Dean took the 50 free in 26.29, fractions of second ahead of Emily McMahon, in 26.35.  Madison Pechulis won the 200 breaststroke in 2:36.02, while Sophie Hayes won the 200 fly in 2:16.06.   

Wood, Hayes, Pechulis, and Katie Brandeberry won the 400 medley relay in 4:16.46, and the Owls also notched a win in the 200 medley relay with Dean, Wood, Rachel Mackinnon, and McMahon taking it in 1:44.99.

Dean was also second in the 100 free in 57.55, and McCafferty had two second place nods, in the 200 IM (2:23.31) and the 200 fly (2:21.68).

Men's Highlights

Kyle Shadeck picked up Keene State's lone win on the men's side, taking the 200 flyi n 1:59.76, and adding a second place finish in the 200 IM in 2:04.15.  Patrick Doyle was second in the 500 free in 5:18.30, as was Antony Hubbard in the 1,000 free in 10:56.18.

Eric King was in a pair of extremely close races, taking fourth in the 50 free in 23.33, in a race where the top four places were separated by just .32 seconds.  King was also third in the 100 free in 50.71, where less than two seconds separated the top three finishers.

Hubbard, JT Barth, Shadeck, and King also comprised the the 400 medley relay team that finished third in 3:47.70.
