KEENE, N.H.--Katie Brandeberry and Kyle Shadeck were each a part of four wins as the Keene State College swimming and diving teams opened the 2018-19 season with respective dual meet wins over Colby-Sawyer College on Sunday at the Spaulding Gym pool. The KSC men posted a 162-22 win, while the women won 176.47.
Women's Highlights
Brandeberry was a winner in a pair of individual events, winning the 100 free (57.19) and the 100 IM (1:03.60), while swimming the anchor leg in both the winning 200 medley relay (2:00.86), and the 800 free relay (8:50.95).
Molly O'Connor added wins in the 1,000 free in 12:15.32, while teaming with Brandeberry in the 800, along with Madison Pechulis and Sophie Hayes. Sophomore transfer Samantha Dickinson, who joined KSC after swimming at Marist College last year, was also part of the 200 medley relay and notched an individual win in the 50 free in 26.22.
Paige Carey added another win for KSC in the 200 free, in 2:11.26, and the 500 free, in 5:50.59, while Sydney McGough won the 50 back in 31.01. Madison Pechulis took home first in the 50 breast in 33.53, and Hayes added a win in the 200 fly in 2:22.04.
In diving, Jessica Masotta won the 1-meter board with a score of 175.30, and the 3-meter with a score of 179.50. Jordan Williams grabbed a win for the Owls by taking home first place in the 200 backstroke in 2:29.80, and Olivia Pechulis won the 200 breast in 2:45.61.
Men's Highlights
Shadeck home first place in the 200 fly, in 1:59.44, as well as a first place finish in the 100 IM in 56.08. Shadeck also was a part of the winning 200 medley relay team, along with AJ DelGiorno, Patrick Doyle, and Tomas Langland, as well as the 800 free relay with Zach Payne, Jay Fritz, and Michael Morman.
Sam Allo marked his collegiate debut with a win in the 1,000 free, in 11:03.32, as well as a win in the 500 free in 5:35.40. Doyle picked up a win in the 200 free in 1:59.34, and the 50 fly in 26.61. Payne, making his appearance for the Owls after transferring from Marymount University (Va.), won the 50 yard backstroke in 26.89, as well as the 200 breaststroke in 2:24.66.
Jacob Peters, also making his collegiate debut, was the first to touch the wall in the 50 free, in 24.40, as well as the 100 free in 54.05. George Colarullo, another transfer (Springfield), took the 1-meter dive with a score of 226.50, and the 3-meter board by scoring 235.80.
The Owls return to the pool on October 20, traveling to Saint Michael's College for a 1 p.m. start.
