Owls Dunk St. Michael's, Norwich In Home Tri-Meet

KEENE, N.H.--The Keene State College swimming and diving team won 19 events and Nolan Kazalski had a pair of qualifying scores on both diving boards as the Owls swept a tri-meet from St. Michael's College and Norwich University on Saturday at Spaulding Gym.

Results

The men's meet started off with a win in the 200 meter relay, as Zach Payne, Kyle Shadeck, JT Barth, and Michael Moorman took home first in 1:42.93.    Payne also notched an individual win in the 50 yard backstroke in 26.41, as did Shadeck in the 100 fly in 54.05.    George Colarullo won both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards, scoring 243.37 on the 1-meter and 228.60 on the three meter.

Payne picked up his second win of the day with a photo finish in the 100 backstroke in 56.72, nipping the next finisher by .10 seconds.    Barth won the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.67, while Shadeck also won the 50 fly in 24.71.   Eric King added his name to the winner's list in the 100 IM in 57.66.  

Kazalski scored 179.18 on the 1-meter board, and 175.79, with both scores good enough to qualify for the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association championships.   The Owls beat St. Michael's College 182-102, and topped Norwich 188.5-107.5.  

On the women's side, the Owls also won the 200 medley relay, led by Sydney McGough, Madison Pechulis, Sophie Hayes, and Kristyn Simoneau in 1:57.49.  Samantha Dickinson won the 50 yard back stroke in 29.80, and Madison Pechulis did the same in the 50 yard breaststroke in 31.99.   Sophie Hayes captured the 100 fly in 1:01.24, and Simoneau won the 50 free in 26.54.

Dickinson also won the 100 backstroke, with a time of 1:04.63, while Madison Pechulis picked up another win in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.32.   Hayes added another win in the 50 fly in 28.33, and Dickinson won a third event with a victory in the 100 IM in 1:04.94.  Hayes, Dickinson, Simoneau, and Jaelin Jang closed out the meet with a dominant win in the 200 free relay, in 1:45.77, winning by nearly seven seconds.   Keene State won the meet, taking down St. Michael's 192-83 and Norwich 184-93.
