Owls Battle Brandeis, Bridgewater State In Tri-Meet

NORTON, Mass.--Eric King, Madison Pechulis, and George Colarullo all notched wins in the Owls' final tri-meet of the regular season at the Balfour Natatorium at Wheaton College against Brandeis University and Bridgewater State University.

Women's Results

Madison Pechulis won the 50 breaststroke in 32.12, and just missed out another win in the 200 breaststroke, finishing second in 2:33.76, just .65 seconds behind the winner.  She was also part of the 200 medley relay team that finished third in 1:59.02, along with Samantha Dickinson, Sophie Hayes, and Molly O'Connor.

O'Connor was second in the 1,000 free, touching the wall in 12:03.80, while Paige Carey was third in the 200 free in 2:06.48.  Dickinson was second in the 50 back in 30.28, while Hayes marked the same finish in the 100 fly in 2:18.95.    Dickinson was also third in the 50 free in 26.12, and third in the 100 free in 57.54.   O'Connor added another second place finish in the 500 free, in 5:50.94, and Hayes was also third in the 50 fly in 28.83, in a race where 1.16 seconds separated first through fourth.

Jaelin Jang was second in the 200 IM in 2:21.17, then closed out the meet with a third place finish in the 400 free with O'Connor, Carey, and Erin Morley in 3:58.09.

As a team, the Owl women bested Bridgewater State University 155-120 and fell to Brandeis University 183-88.

Men's Results

Eric King captured the 200 IM in an extremely tight race, finishing in 2:04.12 to win by .11 seconds.  George Colarullo won both sets of dives for the second time in less than a week, scoring 230.65 on the 1-meter and 253.30 on the 3-meter.

Zach Payne, JT Barth, Tyler Young, and King comprised the 200 medley relay that was third in 1:42.36, and Quint Kimmel was second in the 1,000 free in 10:33.25.  Payne was second in the 200 free in 1:52.87, and third in the 50 back in 25.85.   Barth was also third in the 50 breast in 30.16, while Young was third in the 200 fly in 2:09.55.

King was third in the 50 free in 22.72, and Andrew Daur added a second place finish in the 200 backstroke in 2:05.05.    King also picked up a second place nod in the 200 breaststroke, and Kimmel added another second place finish in the 500 free in 5:14.02.  

KSC beat Bridgewater State 175-116 and lost to Brandeis 181-109.

The Owls will be in action next at the LEC Championships (Women) and LEC Invitational (Men) on February 1.
