BRISTOL, R.I.--Junior
Jaelin Jang won a pair of individual events, and was part of a winning relay as both the Keene State College men's and women's swim teams finished second a the Roger Williams Invitational on Saturday at the Roger Williams Aquatic Center.
Women's Highlights
Jang won the 100 freestyle in a nailbiting finish, touching in at 58.16 to win by 6/100th of a second. She also won the 200 IM in 2:20.07. Carey, meanwhile, won the 100 breaststroke in an equally tense close, coming in in 1:11.45, to win by .16 seconds.
Jang and Carey were also part of the winning 400 free relay team, along with sophomore
Kiley Young and freshman
Samantha Taylor, who finished first in 3:55.21.
Other top finishers for the Owls included the 200 medley relay team of
Patsy Ciampi,
Emily Rogers, Taylor, and
Laura Chaffee, who were third in 2:06.35, while Carey was also second in the 50 free in 26.79. Young, Jang, Carey, and Ciampi made up the 200 free relay team that was second in 1:47.38, and Young also took third place in the 100 backstroke in 1:05.19.
Keene State was second overall with 382.5 points.
Men's Highlights
Andrew Daur,
Tomas Langland,
Tyler Young, and
Aaron Turgeon comprised the 200 medley relay team that was second in 1:47.84, and Turgeon was also fourth in the 50 free in 23.87, and
Ben Stafford was fourth in the 100 free in 52.84.
In the men's 200 free relay, Stafford, Langland,
Aidan Urnezis, and
Quint Kimmel combined to finish second in 1:37.07, while Stafford, Young, Daur, and Turgeon finished second in the 400 free relay in 3:34.39.
Keene State was also second with 63 points.
The Keene State women return to action on October 23 against UMass Dartmouth in the Keene State Pool at 1 p.m., while the men are off until November 6, when they take part in a dual meet against Norwich University.
