KEENE, N.H.--Going up against one of the better teams in NCAA Division II, the Keene State College men's and women's swim and dive teams had a strong showing against Bentley College in the final dual meet of the semester at Spaulding Gym.
Women's Highlights
The 200 medley relay team of
Kiley Young,
Paige Carey,
Jaelin Jang, and
Gina Nunziata won the event in 1:54.87, while Jang was second in the 1,000 free in 11:22.37.
Kiley Young was second in the 200 free in 2:03.07, with
Alice Loucraft winning the 50 backstroke in 29.86.
Carey added a second place finish in 31.99 in the 50 breastroke, in a photo finish, .04 seconds out of first. Nunziata was third in the 50 freestyle in 26.69 in a race where .35 seconds separated the top three places, while Loucraft was third in the 100 free, less than one second out of first place.
Young added another second place nod, this one in the 100 backstroke, in 1:03.67, while Carey picked up a win in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.94. Another tight finish saw Jang take second in the 50 fly, in 28.00 flat, followed by Young with another second place finish in the 200 IM in 2:20.03.
Jang, Loucraft, Carey, and Nunziata made up the 200 free relay that finished second in 1:44.50.
Bentley took the meet, 197-94.
Men's Highlights
Quint Kimmel was third in the 1,000 free, in 11:09.43, and
Aaron Turgeon was second in the 200 free in 1:53.58, a mere .31 seconds out of first place.
Jeremy Bartley was third in the 50 backstroke in 28.61, while
Tomas Langland finished third in the 50 breaststroke in 31 seconds flat.
Tyler Young was third in the 100 fly, in 56.97, and Bartley touched in four in the 50 free, where less than one second separated fourth from first.
Andrew Daur was second in the 100 backstroke in 1:00.47, and won the 200 IM in 2:13.24.
Tyler Young also notched a win, taking the 50 fly in 25.58.
Turgeon, Langland,
Ben Stafford, and
Jeremy Bartley nabbed first place in the 200 free relay, in 1:34.34.
Bentley won the meet, 172-95.
The Owls are off this week, before closing out the semester at the MIT Invitational from Dec. 3-5.
