BOSTON, Mass.—The Little East Conference swimming and diving championships began in earnest at the Boston Sports Institute on Friday.
Women's Highlights
- The evening kicked off with a win in the 200 free relay, led by Gina Nunziata, Jillian O'Neil, Kiley Young, and Jaelin Jang, that won in 1:41.12.
- Rory Lee was second in the 500 free in 5:31.12.
- Jang also won the 100 fly, in 59.92.
- Young won the 200 backstroke in 2:09.49.
- Young, Emily Rogers, Jang, and O'Neil won the 400 medley relay in 4:09.80.
- Keene State is just in front after the first day of the LEC Championships, with 279.5 points. Bridgewater State is in second place with 250 points.
Men's Highlights
- Jeremy Bartley, Quint Kimmel, Logan Phillips, and Aaron Turgeon were second in the 200 free relay in 1:29.53.
- Aidan Urnezis won the 500 free in dominating fashion, shattering his own conference championship record in 4:44.84 to win the race by nearly 13 seconds.
- Braeden Ledder won the 200 backstroke in a conference championship record 2:00.22.
- Logan Phillips was third in the 100 fly in 54.87.
- Jeremy Bartley was third in the 50 free in 22.62.
- Leo Lauridsen was third in the 200 IM in 2:10.40.
- Bartley, Ben Szum, Phillips, and Turgeon were third in the 400 medley relay in 3:47.23.
- Through the first day, Keene State sits in second place with 289 points. Bridgewater State is in first place with 338 points.
The second day of the championships resumes on Saturday with the preliminaries at 10 am and the finals at 6:30 p.m. Saturday's events include the finals of the 1-meter dive, the 200 medley relay, the 400 IM, the 50 fly, the 200 free, the 100 back, the 100 breast, and the 800 free relay.
