Owls Fall to Falcons as Swimming and Diving Returns to Action

WALTHAM, Mass. – After nearly a month between contests, having last beat Gordon College back on Saturday, October 26, the Keene State men's and women's swimming and diving team returned to action at Bentley University on Sunday. On the men's side, the Owls fell to the Falcons, 91-147, while on the women's side, only 16 points separated the teams, with Bentley ending up on top, 151-135.
 
Turgeon led the Owls on the men's side, with all four of his events being top two finishes. In his individual events, Turgeon recorded a first-place finish in the 100 yard freestyle, with a time of 49.58 and a second-place finish, .19 behind first place, with a time of 22.12. In his first relay event, the 200 medley relay, Turgeon swam the anchor leg in the fastest time on the day, with a time of 22.16, which resulted in a team relay time of 1:44.41 for second place alongside Evan Keefe, Zack Menz, and Zach Perry. In his final relay, the 200 free relay, Turgeon swam the anchor leg in 22.41 to send his team to first with a time of 1:34.70, with Keefe, Perry, and Zach Finman also a part of the relay. Keefe and Perry each added an individual event win, as Keefe won the 500 free with a time of 5:21.65 and Perry won the 100 fly with a time of 57.10. Alec Agosto finished second, behind Keefe, in the 500 free with a time of 5:26.92, while Finman finished in second in the 100 fly with a time of 59.62. Two more Owls had top two times in an event as Leo Lauridsen won the 400 IM (4:45.65), with teammate Nick Ferrucci coming in second (4:54.63).
 
London Armitage led the Owls with three top two finishes on the day. Armitage won one individual event, the 100 backstroke, with a time of 1:05.94 and came in second in the 200 backstroke in 2:20.24. Her time of 26.35 in the anchor leg of the 200 free relay was the fastest leg of the relay event on the day, as her relay group alongside Tallulah Going, Sammi Taylor, and Rory Lee won the event with a total time of 1:47.62. Along with the first-place finish in the 200 free relay, Lee and Going each picked up top two finishes in another event; Lee finished the 100 free in second (57.18) and Going finished the 50 free in second (26.61), .07 behind first place. Hannah Reddick added a pair of top two finishes of her own, as she finished the 1000 free in 11:54.18 for second place, and swam the 500 free in 5:50.31, only behind her teammate, Emily Stokel, who won the event with a time of 5:46.67. The Owls placed first and second in the 100 fly with Adessa Noyes finishing first in 1:08.42 and Kyleigh Dyer finishing in second (1:10.30). Rebecca Radanovich (5:14.63) and Maddy Fitzgerald ( 5:20.71) also picked up first and second place points for KSC in the 400 IM.
 
In the diving events, Maddie Keyes finished in second in the 1M diving with a score of 218.78, while Megan Strzegowski finished in second in the 3M diving with a score of 213.15 for KSC.
 
The Owls will next be in action on Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7, at the Regis Invitational.
