WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – After over a month since their last meet, just 26 points decided the score between the Keene State College women's swimming and diving team against Eastern Connecticut State University, but the Owls came out on top with a 144-118 victory. While on the men's side, KSC fell to ECSU, 178-83 on the day.
On the women's side, KSC won seven events with
Rory Lee leading the way with three first place finishes. Lee won a pair of individual events, coming in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.93) and 500 free (5:50.51), to go with her leading the leg of KSC's first-place in the 400 free relay alongside Sammi Taylor,
Kyleigh Dyer, and
Tallulah Going (3:58.16). Going also added a first place finish, coming in the 100 free (58.69), and finished second in the 50 free (26.95). KSC placed first and second in the 1,000 free with
Hannah Reddick placing first with a time of 12:12.17 and
Emily Stokel placing second right behind Reddick, with a time of 12:15.39. Just like the 1,000 free, the Owls also placed one and two in the 200 breaststroke, with
Amanda Davies finishing in 2:47.11 for first and
Mia Destefani placing second with a time of 2:49.14. Adding to their previously mentioned first place finishes for the Owls, Davies and Taylor also helped pick up points for KSC with second place finishes in other events as Davies swam the 100 breast in 1:17.77 and Taylor swam the 500 free in 5:56.60. The final first place finish on the women's side came from
Adessa Noyes as she won the 100 fly with a time of 1:06.11.
London Armitage also helped up crucial points for the Owls as she finished second in two of her races, coming in the 100 back (1:08.64) and 200 back (2:29.14).
Olivia Boulris rounded out the top two finishes on the women's side for the Owls as she finished second in the 200 IM (2:30.86).
Aaron Turgeon led the Owls with two of the team's three first place finishes on the day. Turgeon won both the 200 free (1:50.55) and 200 IM (2:04.90) for the Owls, while
Alec Agosto picked up the other first place win, coming in the 1,000 free (11:13.46).
Evan Keefe had a pair of top two finishes on the day, coming in the 100 back (1:04.66) and 200 back (2:24.26).
Leo Lauridsen and Zachary Perry rounded out the top two finishes for the Owls with Lauridsen swimming the 200 fly in 2:12.35 and Perry swimming the 100 fly in 59.21.
The Owls will next be in action at home on Saturday, January 18, at 1:00 PM in a tri-meet against both Bridgewater State University and Brandeis University.
