KEENE, N.H. – The Keene State College men's and women's swimming and diving teams returned to action in the Spaulding Pool as the Owls hosted the University of New England, Plymouth State University, Gordon College, and Norwich University for the Owls' 2025 Sprint Pentathlon.
The Owls' second place finish in the women's 200 medley relay, a third place finish in the men's 200 yard medley relay, and the men's 200 free relay were the Owls' best finishes on the day. The women's 200 medley relay finished in 2:03.66 as the group was made up of
London Armitage,
Maddy Fitzgerald,
Kyleigh Dyer, and
Tallulah Going. On the men's side, the group of
Evan Keefe,
Caiden Cox,
Leo Lauridsen, and
Carter Beauchesne swam the 200 medley relay in 1:48.83 for the third place finish. The last of the top-three relay finishes was the men's 200 free where Zack Menz, Cox,
Keegan Johnson, and Beauchesne swam to second place in 1:38.35.
The Owls' best individual events came from Going's second place finish in the 50 free in 26.81, while Cox and Menz places fourth and fifth respectively in the 50 breast with times of 29.40 and 29.60.
In the men's 1M diving,
Cooper Niles finished with a score of 196.35, while
Keegan Johnson finished with a score of 104.40, both for KSC.
"I love starting off our competition season with this meet. It's a chance for the team to get in a lot of races in one day and give us a snapshot of where we need to improve," said Owls' head coach
Chris Woolridge. "I was happy with the effort put forth and the improvement we saw from our first-year swimmers and divers. The competition is going to get harder over the next six weeks, so we'll be right back to work on Monday in preparation for our next two meets"
The Owls return to action at St. Michaels College on Saturday, October 18 for their first team scored contest of the year.
