KEENE, N.H. – The Keene State College athletic department named
Aidan Law of the men's outdoor track and field team and
Tommy Ahlers of the baseball team this week's Owl Athletes of the Week. This week's selection encompassed action from April 28 through May 4.
Tommy Ahlers, a junior from Salem, New Hampshire, had a strong week at the plate, batting .417, and collecting seven hits, including a double, triple, and a home run. He also scored six runs and drove in six RBIs over four games as he contributed to the Owls' regular season title-clinching sweep of Plymouth State on Friday as Keene State prepares to host the Little East Conference tournament. Ahlers continues his impressive season as the team's postseason run begins on their home field on Wednesday morning.
Aidan Law, a junior from Higganum, Connecticut, had an impressive showing at the New England Division III Championships. He finished second in the long jump with a mark of 7.10 meters, just a hundredth of a meter behind the winner, Anthony Paulino from Western Connecticut State University. His performance contributed to the Owls' overall efforts in the meet, as Law continues his impressive junior season and hopes to qualify for NCAAs for outdoors, just as he had done in the indoor season.
