KEENE, N.H. – The Keene State College athletic department named
Grace Bazin of the field hockey team and
Nick Terranova of the men's cross country team this week's Owl Athletes of the Week. This week's selection encompassed action from August 29 through August 31.
Grace Bazin, a senior forward from Westminster, Vermont, helped lead the Owls on their season-opener 7-2 win over Rivier University in what was Coach Watson's 500th career win. After coming off one of the best offensive seasons in KSC program history which earned her the 2024 LEC Offensive Player of the Year award and selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Watchlist to start the season, Bazin earned the LEC Offensive Player of the Week selection from her seven-point performance to open the season. Bazin kicked off the season with a bang by recording a hat trick, to go with an assist in the Owls' dominant victory over Rivier.
Nick Terranova, a sophomore from South Dennis, Massachusetts, was named the LEC Runner of the Week from his impressive performance in the Owls season-opening meet at the Keene State Alumni Meet on Saturday morning. Terranova improved on his time by over a minute and a half compared to his finish in the same meet a year ago, as he placed second with a time of 15:44.0. His second-place finish was over 30 seconds faster than third place, while he placed second only to his former teammate and All-American
Jake Velazquez.
