Improving Owls Open Season at Westfield Fall Invitational

KSC Finishes Third of Six Teams, Just Four Strokes From Second

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Junior Madi Mousley and first year Sadie Murray each finished in a tie for sixth place individually as the Keene State College women's golf team opened their 2025-2026 season at the Westfield State University Fall Invitational on Sunday at the Tekoa Country Club.

The Owl duo each shot an 86 (+15) as the Owls finished third out of six teams with a combined score of 360, just four shots away from second-place Nichols College (356).  KSC's team score to open this season is the best in their young program's history in a full round, 17 strokes better than the 377 they shot at the Wenham Country Club in April of 2024 and a remarkable 114 shots better than their last visit to the Tekoa Country Club in April of 2023.

Mousley finished with nine pars on her round, including five on the back nine where she shot a 41, only four strokes worse than the leader and eventual winner, Krisna Mahendran of Suffolk University.  The Rams finished with a 321 as a team, recording five birdies with Mahendran notching three.  Brooke Bugajewski finished tied for second individually with an 80, Emory Goodson fourth with an 82, and Lauren Phelan fifth with an 85 to help power the Rams to their team victory.

Felicia Zander's 80 that featured her team's only three birdies and a 38 on the back nine helped Nichols edge KSC by just four shots for second place as a team.  The Owls got birdies from Murray on the 432-yard par five fourth hole and Abby Weiterman on the 470-yard par five No. 12.

KSC overall finished with 22 pars, outdistancing fourth-place Albertus Magnus College by 34 strokes.

In addition to Mousley and Murray, Weiterman finished with a 91 and Mackenzie Hagearty a 97.

"Great start to the season!  We had four scores under 100 and the girls played great," said KSC head coach Jeff Timmer.  "Now we have something to build on for the rest of the season.  Good debut from freshman Sadie Murray."

The Owls return to the links next Sunday when they travel to the Riverside Golf Course in Portland, Maine for the USM Invitational before hosting their own invitational at the Keene Country Club on September 28.
