PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Three Keene State College student-athletes were honored by the Little East Conference for their achievements accomplished for the week of 9/7-9/13.
Field Hockey
Freshman forward
Henley Gilstrap (Greenfield, Mass.) was named the LEC Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, along with being named the LEC Offensive Player of the Week from the Owls' 2-1 week of action. Over KSC's three games on the week, Gilstrap recorded seven points, as she scored a goal in each of the three games, while also adding an assist in KSC's 5-1 win at Fitchburg State University. Through the Owls' first five games on the season, Gilstrap has seven goals, tied for the fifth most in all of NCAA Division III field hockey on the season, while leading all freshman in goals.
Gilstrap and the Owls return to action at home against Western New England University on Wednesday, September 16, at 4:00 PM for their next contest.
Women's Soccer
Freshman midfielder
Hailey Goldman (Woodbury, Conn.) was named the LEC Rookie of the Week from her performance for the Owls over their two games of action. On Wednesday in the Owls' 2-0 win at Westfield State University, Goldman scored her first two goals of her collegiate career as she scored the opening goal of the game with 4:33 remaining in the first half, followed up with her second of the game not even four minutes later to give KSC a 2-0 lead with 35 seconds remaining in the first half. Over the two games, Goldman scored her two goals on four shot attempts, all coming on target, for a .500 SH% on the week.
Goldman and the Owls return to action back at home against Worcester State University on Wednesday, September 16, at 7:00 PM for their next contest.
Men's Golf
Freshman
Cole Madden (Hanover, Mass.) was named the LEC Rookie of the Week from his performance at the Tony Mariano Invitational hosted by Norwich University at the Country Club of Barre on Wednesday. Madden shot a 79, while logging eight pars and two birdies on the day. Madden finished tied for 13th on the day, while placing third on the Owls with the team finishing in third place with a 313.
Madden and the Owls return to action at the Castleton Invitational on this upcoming weekend on Saturday, September 19, and Sunday September 20.
