Keene State Swim Teams Hold Red & White Intersquad Scrimmage

KEENE, N.H. 10/1/12 – With its season just about a month away, Keene State College men's and women's swim teams got their feet wet by holding a Red& White intersquad scrimmage meet at Spaulding Gym Pool on Sunday.

The team was split in two with Head Coach Jack Fabian coaching the red team and newly appointed assistant coach Dan Morse coaching the white squad.

Swimmers were able to compete in up to three events and be on one or two relays.  The divers, who competed on one-meter board, were able to pick three dives of their choice.

Fabian reports that the red team was victorious.  "I always coach the Red.and cherry pick to make sure I remain undefeated," said a smiling Fabian.  "The young coach Dan Morse came close with the men's meet, but the Red squad still pulled it off."

Returning to the team after spending last semester abroad in Spain, junior Kaila Umbarger led the Red team by finishing first in the 50 and 100 free and being a member of the winning 200 medley and 200 free relay teams.

A two-time All-America last year for the Owls, junior Drew Ledwith led the White team.  He won the 500 free, the 200 I.M., and the 200 free and was on the winning 200 free relay team.

Keene State will host an alumni meet on Saturday, Oct. 20 (11 a.m.) and begin its season at the New England Invitational Meet at WPI on Sat., Nov. 3.
